Comparisons
Bio-Care is in a league of it’s own. It supplies so many
extras compared to other low energy mixes available, that it is
the obvious choice. It supplies a probiotic yeast and chelated minerals,
and elevated levels of antioxidant nutrients. Compared to other
low energy mixes, Bio-Care contains over three times the amount
of vitamin E. Researchers have found that the currently recommended
levels of vitamin E are insufficient for optimum health and performance;
therefore your horse might not be getting enough to maintain his
health. Antioxidant nutrients are crucial for immune system function,
therefore inadequate levels could impair immune function.
Bio-Care supplies elevated levels of vitamins A and D. Vitamin
A is an important antioxidant nutrient that is also used in the
body for growth, repair and vision. Stabled horses without access
to much grass will not receive adequate vitamin A, particularly
if they are fed hay. Vitamin D is important for skeletal health
and is in short supply in both haylage and old hay.
The grass and forage your horse eats usually supplies them with
adequate iron and manganese, but may well be short of zinc, copper
and/or selenium. Bio-Care provides high levels of these essential
micronutrients, and includes chelated zinc and copper for enhanced
absorption. Selenium is a particularly important nutrient that acts
as an antioxidant, protecting body cells from ongoing damage, and
it works alongside vitamin E.
Bio-Care supplies good quality protein from alfalfa and micronised
soya beans. The quality of protein in a feed is more important than
the quantity because the quality reflects the level of essential
aminoacids. High quality protein contains more of the essential
amino-acids and less of the nonessential amino-acids that the horse
can build in its own body.

“Franklins Flyte is a naturally 'hot' horse, and can
suffer from stress at competitions. He is fed Biocare mix
which contains a probiotic yeast, and has low starch levels,
this helps in settling his stomach and keeps him calm.”
